A Film Review event was conducted by the School of Liberal Arts to get a glimpse into students' general understanding of Cinema. The movie screened was 'Sita Sings the Blues', a 2008 film by Nina Paley. The film is a feminist re-interpretation of Ramayana and juxtaposes Indian mythology with the African-American Blues culture. 26 students participated from different schools. While some students found the content unpalatable, other students enjoyed this unique way of looking at familiar characters. The film was also an extension of the 'Gender and Law' paper that is taught to the first-year batch of SoLA, hence the entire class participated in the event. The winner was rewarded with a unique first prize - a 32 GB pen-drive filled with some of the greatest World Cinema classics.
