Legal Aid and Awareness Camp

On Friday, 22 January 2021 School of Law IMS Unison University organized a Legal Aid and Awareness Camp in Bisht Village, adopted by the University. Over twenty students from the School of Law of B.A.LL.B, B.B.A.LL.B and LL.M, volunteered to be a part of the camp. Ms. Ayushi Bisht, Faculty Convener, along with Mr. Harsh Kumar and Ms. Sakshee Sharma, Faculty Co-Conveners Legal Aid accompanied the students to the designated village. We were greeted by the Pradhaan of the village at the village Panchayat Office and thereon he accompanied us to the main village. Due to the prevalent pandemic situation the School of Law decided to conduct a door-to-door campaign where the students very enthusiastically imparted information regarding various relevant legal issues to the villagers. To our elation the villagers were very responsive to the efforts of the students and were keenly listening to them, talking about various issues such as, the Covid-19 SOP norms and vaccination guidelines, Ration Card, Ayushmaan Card, Labour Laws, Cyber related Financial Scams, Domestic Violence, Dowry, Lodging of FIR, Right to Information and Environmental Issues. The positive response from the villagers greatly enthused our young lawyers in the making as they took pride in contributing their share of legal knowledge for the welfare of the society. The entire campaign was a great learning experience for the students of the VI^th and VIII^th semester as they watched fist hand, their seniors taking charge in the interaction with the local people. The juniors were also given opportunity to discuss certain topics which they were well-versed with. The entire atmosphere was filled with youthful energy, comradeship and healthy interactions. After finishing the door-to-door campaign the contingent returned to the Panchayat office where the faculty had arranged for some refreshments for the students. This Legal Aid and Literacy Camp was quite successful.
