On 25th January 2021, School of Law, IMS Unison University, Dehradun celebrated 11th National Voter’s Day. The Day is celebrated every year since 2011 to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India. This day is observed to spread awareness about the importance of voting in a democracy, educate people about their voting rights and to encourage more young voters to take part in the election process. The theme of year was “Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and informed.” The Conveners of this event were Ms. Sakshee Sharma and Ms. Maryanka. The Pro Vice- Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Ravikesh Srivastava was present to witness the occasion. The Dean School of Law, Prof. Dr. R.N. Sharma addressed the gathering of the students and advised them to responsibly perform their duty of casting their precious vote as well-informed voters. On the occasion as per the request of the District Election Officer, Dehradun “Voters Oath was administered” to all the students and the faculties present in the campus gathered while following proper social distancing protocol of the university, in the central plaza. Through the oath, the students and faculty members solemnly pledged to become responsible, educated and aware voters of the country to help safeguard the sanctity of the Indian democracy. After the oath, the School of Law organized a quiz competition for the students in both offline and online mode for the convenience of the students. The theme of the quiz was general knowledge relating to election and election system in India. More than hundred students (85 online and 30 offline) from School of Law, participated in the quiz with much zeal. Bhoomija Pandey, Shivendu Chauhan and Harshit Karan shared the first place whereas the runner up position was bagged by Pooja, Riya Rastogi and Ridhima Gupta.
